Embark on an adventure in one of Florida’s most beautiful national landmarks, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, with over 21,000 acres of unspoiled land just outside of Gainesville.
Paynes Prairie is home to free-roaming herds of bison and wild horses, which are popular attractions for visitors. The park also features over 30 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, as well as several observation towers and boardwalks that offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape and wildlife.
While hiking one of the trails, we came upon a group of wild horses. We respected their space and stayed at a safe distance. It was a surreal experience to be in such close proximity to these majestic creatures, watching them roam and graze peacefully. It was a truly unforgettable experience and the highlight of our visit.
