Seattle’s Space Needle is reaching out to the world with its new panoramic camera. Now you can eavesdrop on the city any time of day! Well, almost. The camera starts an hour before sunrise and ends an hour after sunset. After all, you can’t see anything in the dead of night. Still, PanoCam takes 360 degree images from 605 feet above the city and updates the view every 10 minutes.
Perseid Meteor Shower
Best show on the planet is ready to light up the sky. The Perseid meteor shower comes into view beginning Tuesday and going through Wednesday. NASA says expect up to 100 meteors per hour to shoot through the night sky. If you move away from city lights to the darkest remote areas, you won’t need binoculars or telescopes.
Hello, Dolly!
Dollywood is getting a makeover of sorts. The theme park named after country music icon and actress Dolly Parton is getting a new wooden roller coaster.
It’s called “Lightning Rod” and is touted as the world’s fastest with speeds reaching up to 73 miles per hour. The new coaster will cost a whopping $22 million and plans to open in spring 2016.

Mid-summer August heat can’t dampen the Halloween mood at California’s Knott’s Berry Farm. The theme park unveiled plans for this year’s scary shabang. Once again, Elvira Mistress of the Dark will be the featured face of the event, which runs from September 21 to October 31. Zombies, mazes, various scare zones, and musical entertainment highlight this annual rite of autumn.
